Surah Al-Anfal, Ayah 22 (8:22)

ٱلْأَنْفَال

۞ إِنَّ شَرَّ ٱلدَّوَآبِّ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلْبُكْمُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ

Quran 8:22 is ayah 22 of Surah Al-Anfal (“The Spoils of War”), a Medinan surah of 75 ayahs. It is in Juz 9, on page 179 of the Madani Mushaf.

۞ إِنَّشَرَّٱلدَّوَآبِّعِندَٱللَّهِٱلصُّمُّٱلْبُكْمُٱلَّذِينَلَايَعْقِلُونَ٢٢
inna sharra l-dawābi ʿinda l-lahi l-ṣumu l-buk'mu alladhīna lā yaʿqilūna

Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allāh are the deaf and dumb who do not use reason [i.e., the disbelievers].(22)
