Surah Al-A'raf, Ayah 27 (7:27)

ٱلْأَعْرَاف

يَٰبَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ لَا يَفْتِنَنَّكُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ كَمَآ أَخْرَجَ أَبَوَيْكُم مِّنَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ يَنزِعُ …

Quran 7:27 is ayah 27 of Surah Al-A'raf (“The Heights”), a Meccan surah of 206 ayahs. It is in Juz 8, on page 153 of the Madani Mushaf.

يَٰبَنِىٓءَادَمَلَايَفْتِنَنَّكُمُٱلشَّيْطَٰنُكَمَآأَخْرَجَأَبَوَيْكُممِّنَٱلْجَنَّةِيَنزِعُعَنْهُمَالِبَاسَهُمَالِيُرِيَهُمَاسَوْءَٰتِهِمَآ ۗإِنَّهُۥيَرَىٰكُمْهُوَوَقَبِيلُهُۥمِنْحَيْثُلَاتَرَوْنَهُمْ ۗإِنَّاجَعَلْنَاٱلشَّيَٰطِينَأَوْلِيَآءَلِلَّذِينَلَايُؤْمِنُونَ٢٧
yābanī ādama lā yaftinannakumu l-shayṭānu kamā akhraja abawaykum mina l-janati yanziʿu ʿanhumā libāsahumā liyuriyahumā sawātihimā innahu yarākum huwa waqabīluhu min ḥaythu lā tarawnahum innā jaʿalnā l-shayāṭīna awliyāa lilladhīna lā yu'minūna

O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts. Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe.(27)

  19. وَقَبِيلُهُۥwaqabīluhuand his tribe
  20. مِنْminfrom
  21. حَيْثُḥaythuwhere
  22. لَاlānot
  23. تَرَوْنَهُمْ ۗtarawnahumyou see them
  24. إِنَّاinnāIndeed
  25. جَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe have made
  26. ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَl-shayāṭīnathe devils
  27. أَوْلِيَآءَawliyāafriends
  28. لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnaof those who

Warning against the Lures of Shaytan

Allah warns the Children of Adam against Iblis and his followers, by explaining about his ancient enmity for the father of mankind, Adam peace be upon him. Iblis plotted to have Adam expelled from Paradise, which is the dwelling of comfort, to the dwelling of hardship and fatigue (this life) and caused him to have his private part uncovered, after it had been hidden from him. This, indeed, is indicative of deep hatred (from Shaytan towards Adam and mankind). Allah said in a similar Ayah,
أَفَتَتَّخِذُونَهُ وَذُرِّيَّتَهُ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِى وَهُمْ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ بِئْسَ لِلظَّـلِمِينَ بَدَلاً

(Will you then take him (Iblis) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me, while they are enemies to you What an evil is the exchange for the wrongdoers.) 18:50.
