Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 96 (2:96)

ٱلْبَقَرَة

وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمْ أَحْرَصَ ٱلنَّاسِ عَلَىٰ حَيَوٰةٍ وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ ۚ يَوَدُّ أَحَدُهُمْ لَوْ …

Quran 2:96 is ayah 96 of Surah Al-Baqarah (“The Cow”), a Medinan surah of 286 ayahs. It is in Juz 1, on page 15 of the Madani Mushaf.

2:96
وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمْأَحْرَصَٱلنَّاسِعَلَىٰحَيَوٰةٍوَمِنَٱلَّذِينَأَشْرَكُوا۟ ۚيَوَدُّأَحَدُهُمْلَوْيُعَمَّرُأَلْفَسَنَةٍوَمَاهُوَبِمُزَحْزِحِهِۦمِنَٱلْعَذَابِأَنيُعَمَّرَ ۗوَٱللَّهُبَصِيرٌۢبِمَايَعْمَلُونَ٩٦
walatajidannahum aḥraṣa l-nāsi ʿalā ḥayatin wamina alladhīna ashrakū yawaddu aḥaduhum law yuʿammaru alfa sanatin wamā huwa bimuzaḥziḥihi mina l-ʿadhābi an yuʿammara wal-lahu baṣīrun bimā yaʿmalūna

And you will surely find them the most greedy of people for life - [even] more than those who associate others with Allāh. One of them wishes that he could be granted life a thousand years, but it would not remove him in the least from the [coming] punishment that he should be granted life. And Allāh is Seeing of what they do.(96)

  19. ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābithe punishment

  21. يُعَمَّرَ ۗyuʿammarahe should be granted life
  22. وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
  23. بَصِيرٌۢbaṣīrun(is) All-Seer
