Surah Al-Ma'idah, Ayah 40 (5:40)

ٱلْمَائِدَة

أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَغْفِرُ لِمَن …

Quran 5:40 is ayah 40 of Surah Al-Ma'idah (“The Table Spread”), a Medinan surah of 120 ayahs. It is in Juz 6, on page 114 of the Madani Mushaf.

أَلَمْتَعْلَمْأَنَّٱللَّهَلَهُۥمُلْكُٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِوَٱلْأَرْضِيُعَذِّبُمَنيَشَآءُوَيَغْفِرُلِمَنيَشَآءُ ۗوَٱللَّهُعَلَىٰكُلِّشَىْءٍقَدِيرٌ٤٠
alam taʿlam anna l-laha lahu mul'ku l-samāwāti wal-arḍi yuʿadhibu man yashāu wayaghfiru liman yashāu wal-lahu ʿalā kulli shayin qadīrun

Do you not know that to Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth? He punishes whom He wills and forgives whom He wills, and Allāh is over all things competent.(40)
