Surah Ash-Shuraa, Ayah 8 (42:8)

ٱلشُّورَىٰ

وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَهُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَلَٰكِن يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ …

Quran 42:8 is ayah 8 of Surah Ash-Shuraa (“The Consultation”), a Meccan surah of 53 ayahs. It is in Juz 25, on page 483 of the Madani Mushaf.

42:8
وَلَوْشَآءَٱللَّهُلَجَعَلَهُمْأُمَّةًوَٰحِدَةًوَلَٰكِنيُدْخِلُمَنيَشَآءُفِىرَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚوَٱلظَّٰلِمُونَمَالَهُممِّنوَلِىٍّوَلَانَصِيرٍ٨
walaw shāa l-lahu lajaʿalahum ummatan wāḥidatan walākin yud'khilu man yashāu fī raḥmatihi wal-ẓālimūna mā lahum min waliyyin walā naṣīrin

And if Allāh willed, He could have made them [of] one religion, but He admits whom He wills into His mercy. And the wrongdoers have not any protector or helper.(8)
