Surah Yusuf, Ayah 88 (12:88)

يُوسُف

فَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ مَسَّنَا وَأَهْلَنَا ٱلضُّرُّ وَجِئْنَا …

Quran 12:88 is ayah 88 of Surah Yusuf (“Joseph”), a Meccan surah of 111 ayahs. It is in Juz 13, on page 246 of the Madani Mushaf.

فَلَمَّادَخَلُوا۟عَلَيْهِقَالُوا۟يَٰٓأَيُّهَاٱلْعَزِيزُمَسَّنَاوَأَهْلَنَاٱلضُّرُّوَجِئْنَابِبِضَٰعَةٍمُّزْجَىٰةٍفَأَوْفِلَنَاٱلْكَيْلَوَتَصَدَّقْعَلَيْنَآ ۖإِنَّٱللَّهَيَجْزِىٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ٨٨
falammā dakhalū ʿalayhi qālū yāayyuhā l-ʿazīzu massanā wa-ahlanā l-ḍuru waji'nā bibiḍāʿatin muz'jātin fa-awfi lanā l-kayla wataṣaddaq ʿalaynā inna l-laha yajzī l-mutaṣadiqīna

So when they entered upon him [i.e., Joseph], they said, "O ʿAzeez, adversity has touched us and our family, and we have come with goods poor in quality, but give us full measure and be charitable to us. Indeed, Allāh rewards the charitable."(88)

  16. وَتَصَدَّقْwataṣaddaqand be charitable
  17. عَلَيْنَآ ۖʿalaynāto us
  18. إِنَّinnaIndeed
  19. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
  20. يَجْزِىyajzīrewards
  21. ٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَl-mutaṣadiqīnathe charitable
